Spring Into Color...I Know You Want To

You guys should know by, or if you don't now you do, that I have an addiction to black clothing. As soon as it gets warmer, I begin parting with my beloved black to experiment with lighter colors, because it's hot! A few colors that I believe will be making a take over include, turquoise the recent champ of Spring/Summer, orange/coral shades, and pink!

First off turquoise has been used in the unexpected pop of color role frequently. Turquoise has the tendency to stand alone in many outfits, and looks.

Burnt Out

I'm merely sitting here watching Married to Medicine on Style Network, while having a small panic attack. It's my day off and I'm stressed out about next week already, this is no way to live. I burn myself out on my off days, my school days, the days I'm supposed to be enjoying myself I still manage to rain on my own parade. Refusing to torture myself any further, one of the few methods I use is to write it all out, like the following example.

Like Those Gold Ladies In The James Bond Movie

Hey guys, I wanted to come back in between an overwhelming amount of school stress and let you know what I've been lusting over lately! I'm not a gold girl, a lot of my jewelry is silver but recently I've indulged with a few golden pieces here and there but now I know for a fact golden pieces will make a huge impact for me in the Spring and Summer.

Gold, Baby Gold!

All of these awesome golden pieces are from Forever21. The golden bib necklace gives me this regal feeling, like some princess would step out wearing it, the necklace next to it reminds me of Isis the Egyptian goddess(need I say more, or perhaps I do, Google her lol). The next few pieces just feel rockstar like to me, I love the golden studs, and spike details in the cuffs, and those earrings feel 80s to me. I feel like I've seen Kelly Lebrock wear them while playing in Weird Science, my favorite 80s movie, besides the Breakfast club that is.
I'd like to note the caption for this Polyvore set is I Am Not Ashamed of My Love For Forever21, is because recently I hear people bashing the store and judging the shoppers. Okay yea Forever21 is a popular department store, so if you're looking to be a hipster you probably hiss at it, but don't go judging people just because they shop there as being less stylish than you. I believe you can find nice things anywhere, at any price, and look just as good as you would if you shopped anywhere else!

Spring Earring Trends

In honor of  Spring's arrival I decided to share with you my Spring jewelry prediction! It's no denying color is going to have a massive impact this Spring especially with the 90s revival, don't let your jewelry go neglected. If you're not a color loving individual feel free to dabble in some jewelry trends.

Are You Ready?

  •       Large statement earrings are huge this year, from your huge hoops to bamboo earrings this is the time to let the door knockers swing!  Karla of Karla's Closet has been spotted in many large golden earrings that she wore with minimalist details to let the earrings stand out for themselves seen here.
  •     Stud earrings will be upping the amp! Forget the classic diamond stud, and go for a brilliant color, or a pearly stud adorned in gold. When it comes to stud earrings pick the brightest to make a subtle impact.
  •       Triangle shaped earrings something classic of the late 80s early 90s is making a major comeback. Nadia Aboulhosn recently did a blog post wearing her geometric earrings,(that helped inspire this post). Check out Nadia's take on the earring trend here
Personally my favorite of the earrings are the classic gigantic earrings. I associate large earrings with royalty. I could picture a deep brown skinned Cleopatra adorning her ears with large golden jewelry molded by ancient artists, the gold of the earrings merely glowing on near her skin. You'd have a better understanding og  my love  for these earrings if you checked out my own recent purchases in the video below!

You Can't Fake Security

Self acceptance is a struggle for everyone. I'm recently coming to terms with the fact that I hadn't accepted who I am, nor am I nearly as comfortable as I used to be with myself. I've always been the girl striving for more, I never really lived in the moment. Constantly looking to the next page, trying to reach the next step, living in the present is a struggle. I am a planner, an organizer, I love creating lists, schedules and being in the know on a constant basis. When I can't plan ahead,  I grow frustrated and scared. I've never been fond of sudden changes, although most of life is composed of just that. Unpredictability, sounds fun to some and once upon a time, I would find delight in random events and why is that? What has changed inside of me where I fear sudden changes in schedule?
When I was a little girl, something always told me that no matter what happened everything is always going to be alright. I don't know where I learned the philosophy but it felt right and I went with it. As I've aged things have happened, I've been shaken-ed,contorted,flattened, but I always bounced back like rubber.

Each of these gorgeous shoes are available at Charlotte Russe, and I am amazed. Although it's still a frozen tundra in Michigan a girl can daydream and that's exactly what's going on right now. Wedges, platforms and color blocking is going to be huge in the Spring season. These colorful sky high shoes inspired my love of Spring to a new high. Warm weather, I miss you!

Google Reader is Saying Goodbye

Google Reader wait, don't leave me!

Google Reader and Google Friend Connect is saying toodles to us all, you can read more about that here and allow me to say I am not pleased. I have relied more on Google Reader and Google Connect than any other platform, but I am currently exporting all the blogs I follow to my Blog Lovin Dashboard. Guys if you want to keep up with me and keep seeing my posts you've gotta follow me on Blog Lovin, because by July Google Reader will be put to rest. I created a gif to show you my reaction of this news(and to show you what I do when I get bored). Hit that Blog Lovin Follow Button!

Hello There My Dear!

I need to stop playing with apps so much but I had to try cinegram and I shall be playing with this a lot more lol! Besides sharing with you my discovery of the Cinegram app, I also wanted to share with you a more in depth look at Promise by LA Girl. La Girl is a lipstick brand that I have never seen in any of my local Beauty Supply Stores and I wish they were! The Creme Luxury Lipstick is perfectly matte for only 2.00 dollars! The lipstick is a pinkish nude on my lips, and probably a dark nude on someone of a fairer skin tone. I'm a dark lipstick lover and have never really cared for nudes and lighter shades but this has changed my mind. I can see this lipstick being a Spring staple in my makeup arsenal!

A Review of Kimora: House of Fab

I spent Wednesday brainstorming about more blog posts, and new ideas for the blog and found myself drawn to the reality TV series, Kimora: House of Fab! I'm obsessed with this show, I love how the Just Fab company takes us on this journey deep into the business and marketing side of the company. Watching the show, I find myself taking mental notes about how they promote their brand and the techniques in which they go about it, which is something I'm always pursuing for the blog. One method of getting the name of the brand to the masses was shown in one episode, where the company held a contest on who can create the best viral video. Using the fun of competition drove the employees to really exercise their creativity, boost morale and create an overall great video to get it out to everyone.

Hey guys! I want to share with you a little something I realized about acceptance. You may have seen on my Tumblr, Deejay Gets Inspired where I had a moment, about who I am and who I've been striving to be. I've been striving to be:

  • a top notch blogger of a booming blog
  • excellent student with constant above average grades
  • a journalist, with an incredible portfolio
  • someone with a license
  • someone with a car
  • someone with a job
  • someone contributing to their households
  • someone who has it all figured out
In light of all the things I want to be, I've been beating myself up because I'm not those things, at least not yet. I've been beating myself up constantly, and didn't even realize it. I really am my own worse critic, the way I dismantle and tear my personal being apart is done in a way, I'd never to do anyone else. I'd never talk to my own worse enemy the way I speak about myself. I've put a lot of crushing pressure on myself, and that's not healthy. God wouldn't want me to spit on his creation but that's what I've been doing. I've come to accept myself for all that I am and that is:

  • an ambitious beginner blogger
  • a determined student
  • an aspiring journalist with a growing portfolio
  • someone at least with a permit
  • someone with goals
  • someone who is taking faith in God's plans and letting him take control.
  • someone who is on her way to taking the unneeded weight off of her shoulders
  • someone who is learning a balance of self criticism versus self love

Currently Trending

Hey guys! Spring is well on it's way and  I wanted to share with you guys some of my fave trends for the season  I really want to try.
Currently Trending

I'm in the pursuit of some light wash denim jackets like crazy especially after seeing that elusive light wash denim jacket with the faux black leather sleeves from River Island. I spotted a few similar jackets and some other jackets that have some of the same qualities I'm being drawn to at Charlotte Russe,  and Love Culture.
I did a post on print leggings specifically about Black Milk Leggings  and I'm still very interested in trying out print leggings, I've just always been a little self conscious like my leggings would look a bit big, but I'm willing to take the chance!
Wedge sneakers...are everything. Wedge sneakers are comfortable while also giving you that necessary height what's not to love, I for one love feeling tall and this way I won't hurt my feet and I can wear them all the time unlike heels.
The bib necklace is a well known trend that's been out for a while, but I want a few for those key days where I can just add a t-shirt, the statement necklace a nice pair of pants and be on my way! There you have it, these are some of the Spring trends I'd love to try share any of the trends you want to try in the comments!

Early This Morning

Hey guys, today's post came through a bit later than I would of liked but honestly...I overslept. I'm on Spring Break and it feels incredible not having anything to worry about so immediately that I just found myself lying in bed, counting my blessings. I hope you guys enjoy this week's spoken word video and be sure to share it with your friends and what not, bye bye!

Deejay Spots Style!

Hey guys, today I managed to find 2 very stylish individuals on WSU campus a row.
The young lady below is clad in a blue puffer jacket and lovely specs; she caught my eye with the print on that gorgeous scarf and her golden nails!

This golden haired young lady is Naomi Bobbitt. I loved her hair immediately. Once I began taking her picture I then noticed her bullet spiked necklace and had to get a close up. Her necklace makes the perfect, edgy, statement piece!

I greatly appreciate this week's volunteer fashionistas to share their great style, and represent WSU campus fashion to the fullest! To see the previous fashionistas check out the Facebook page, and find the Spotted Style album!

Green Bean!

Hey guys! Today I am wearing my favorite sweater dress, coated in ombre green and clad in my motorcycle vest, I felt great today! Certain items really bring back memories, and this dress reminds me of my business math class in high school. I remember sitting in the moving chairs thinking of how I was going to keep blogging without a proper camera and putting too much pressure on myself. Those memories aren't too distant in time, but it feels like ages ago I've really learned a lot since then. I've come to learn not to pressure myself too much, and to let things that are supposed to happen, do exactly that, happen!
